In line with the policy thrust of the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Health, the Lagos State AIDS Control Agency (LSACA), has distributed 1500 sterilising kits to the Associations of Barbers and Cosmetologists in the State to aid HIV prevention as well as enhance COVID-19 prevention control. The Chief Executive Officer of LSACA, Dr. Monsurat Adeleke, while addressing the beneficiaries at the kits distribution ceremony recently, stated that the event is one of the strategies the Agency is adopting in achieving the UNAIDS global eradication of new HIV infection by the year 2030.   The six Southwest States have agreed to reopen schools for SS3 students to participate in the West African School Certificate Examination (WASCE) next month. The States are Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, Osun and Ekiti. Their decision is contrary to the position of most of the 19 northern states, which supported the Federal Government’s decision to suspend school reopening for SS3 students due to the COVID-19 pandemic.   The Federal Government also declared last week that candidates will not participate in WASCE over safety concerns. But at a virtual meeting by the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission, Commissioners, Special Advisers on Education and SUBEB chairmen reached an agreement to reopen schools for SS3 students to write their final examinations. Nigeria’s first ever female combat helicopter pilot Flying Officer Tolulope Arotile is dead. Spokesman to the Nigeria Air Force (NAF) Ibikunle Daramola announced her death in a statement late on Tuesday. Daramola disclosed that Arotile died as a result of head injuries sustained from a road traffic accident at NAF Base in Kaduna State, northern Nigeria. Arotile, according to Daramola, died barely a year after she was winged as a combat helicopter pilot in the Air Force following the completion of her course in South Africa. The Founder and CEO of the popular motorcycle company, ‘GoKada’ and co-founder of ride-sharing venture ‘Pathao’, Fahim Saleh, has been found dead in his New York apartment, with his body dismembered. According to New York Daily News, Wednesday, the New York Police Department (NYPD) officers found the dismembered body of the deceased in a building on Houston, Suffolk Street on the Lower Eastside at about 3:30pm on Tuesday. The officers said they went there after the deceased’s sister called 911 because she had not seen her brother in a day. The Officers also said the limbless, headless torso of the 33-year-old was found with an electric saw lying next to the remains.   Following  the death of the Lawmaker representing Kosofe Constituency 2  Barr.  Tunde Braimoh the leadership of the Lagos state House of Assembly has directed all its members to go for COVID-19 test.  Adewale Adedeji, the lawmaker representing Ifako Ijaiye 1 constituency, made this known in a statement, adding that his own test result turned out negative, The Nation reports.  Adedeji indicated in the statement that the assembly's directive was issued on Sunday, July 12.  “As directed by the leadership of the Lagos State House of Assembly, On Sunday, 12th of July, 2020; I went and submitted myself for the COVID-19 test, and I have gotten my result.  The test result came out NEGATIVE," the lawmaker said.
