BREAKING: Supreme Court Rules In Favour Of FG, Grants Financial Autonomy to LG

~ Declares It’s Unconstitutional For Governors To Hold LG Funds –    The Supreme Court has ruled that Local Government allocations from the Federation Account should be paid directly to them henceforth, and not to state government coffers. In its lead judgement read by Justice Agim, the apex court pointed out that the state governors’ retention of the monies meant for the Local Governments truncates the latter’s activities. Justice Agim ordered the immediate compliance of the judgement, stating that no state government should be paid monies meant for Local Governments. He also observed that the refusal of state government on financial autonomy for local governments has gone on for over two decades. He said local governments have since stopped receiving the money meant for them from the state governors who act in their stead.   The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Friday, April 12, 2024, presented its first prosecution witness, PW1, Monday Osazuwa, a Senior Supervisor with the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, in the trial of a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Godwin Emefiele and one Henry Omeile.   Emefiele and Omoile were arraigned by the Lagos Zonal Command of the EFCC on Monday, April 8, 2024, on an amended 26-count charge bordering on alleged $4.5bn and N2.8bn fraud. BREAKING: I’m A Man – Bobrisky Declares In Court

Convicted controversial crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has admitted to being a male during his appearance at the Federal High Court in Lagos State, on Friday. Justice Abimbola Awogboro sentenced him to six months imprisonment without the option of a fine for abusing the naira. Before the sentence, the judge asked about his gender, and he quickly replied that he was a man. When the judge asked, “Are you a man or a woman?” Bobrisky responded, “I am a man.” Awogboro said the judgment would be a deterrent to others who are found abusing and mutilating the naira. The judge ruled that the jail term commenced on March 24, 2024, the day of his arrest.

Emefiele Granted N50m bail by Lagos Court

The former Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele has been granted N50 million bail by the Lagos State Special Offences Court after being charged with a 26-count bordering on alleged abuse of office and irregular allocation of $4.5 billion and N2.8 billion respectively. Emefiele was admitted to bail with two sureties in like sum by Justice Rahmon Oshodi on Friday. In the substance of the charges, the EFCC alleged that he abused his office while he was CBN governor through alleged allocations of $4.5bn and N2.8bn. However, in his ruling today, Oshodi held that the sureties must be gainfully employed and have paid the three years’ tax of the Lagos State government. He also ordered that the sureties must show proper identification and be registered in the Lagos State Bail Management System.

BREAKING: Bobrisky sentenced to six months in prison with no option of fine over naira abuse

Controversial cross-dresser Idris Okuneye popularly known as Bobrisky has been sentenced to six-months jail with no option of fine by Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos State .   The judgement was handed down on Friday April 12. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Thursday, April 4, had filed six-count of money laundering and abuse of naira against him. And on Friday, April 5, EFCC arraigned Bobrisky in court on a six-count charge ranging from Abuse of the Naira and Money laundering. The court, however, dismissed the money laundering charges but convicted him for Naira Abuse after he pleaded guilty.  crime.

NAFDAC Bans Sale, Use Of Benylin Syrup Manufactured In South Africa

  The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has recalled Benylin Paediatrics Syrup manufactured by Johnson & Johnson, following recent toxicity findings in the laboratory on the product.   In a Public Alert No. 013/2024 -Alert on ‘Recall of Benylin Paediatrics Syrup in Nigeria,’ NAFDAC revealed that the laboratory analysis conducted on the product showed that it contains an unacceptable high level of Diethylene glycol and was found to cause acute oral toxicity in laboratory animals.   According to the agency, Benylin Paediatric syrup is indicated for the relief of cough and its congestive symptoms and the treatment of hay fever and other allergic conditions in children ages two to 12.   On the risk associated with diethylene glycol, the agency explained that it is toxic to humans when consumed and can prove fatal. BREAKING: Osolo of Isolo, Oba Kabiru Agbabiaka, joins his Ancestors, dies after Eid prayers

The Osolo of Isolo Kingdom in Lagos State, Oba Kabiru Adeola Agbabiaka has joined is ancestors. The monarch was reported to have died few moment after observing the Eid prayers on Wednesday. The Chairman of Isolo Local Council Development Area, Olasoju Adebayo, confirmed his death in a statement. He stated that the deceased monarch would be buried by 4pm according to Islamic rites. The statement read, “I have the instruction of the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to formally announce the passing of the paramount ruler of Isolo Kingdom, Oba Kabiru Agbabiaka, Adeola Olushi III, today April 10, 2024. He was aged 64. “He will be buried today by 4pm at his palace, 3/5 Akinbaye Street, Isolo, according to Islamic rites. May his soul rest in peace.” Olasoju, however, did not disclose the cause of his death. The monarch ascended the throne of his forebears 20 years ago.

BREAKING: Court remands Emefiele in EFCC custody for alleged $4.5bn, N2.8bn fraud

The Special Offences Court sitting in the Ikeja area of Lagos State on Monday, April 8, 2024, ordered the remand of the former Central Bank Bank (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele, in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged abuse of office and $4.5 billion and N2.8 billion fraud. The presiding judge, Justice Rahman Oshodi, remanded Emefiele in EFCC custody while his co-defendant, Henry Omoile, was remanded in Ikoyi Custodial Centre where he is currently held pending the determination of their bail application on April 11. Justice Oshodi gave the order after Emefiele and Omoile pleaded not guilty to the 26-count charge bordering on abuse of office, accepting gratification, accepting gifts through agents, corruption, and fraudulent property receipt. The defendants pleaded not guilty, following their arraignment on Monday. The defence counsel, A. Labi-Lawal, had in his two bail applications urged the court to grant the defendant
